Medical Qualifications

Professor Massimo Malagó graduated from the Universities of Trieste and Padova, Italy and completed a PhD in primary parathyroidism from the Medical School of Verona. He undertook higher surgical training in Italy, Germany and the USA. Prof Malagó has received the European License of Physicians and Surgeons.

Medical Experience

Prof Malagó has been awarded a number of travelling fellowships including a clinical fellowship at the prestigious Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA. He became the Head of Surgical Services for the Department of Surgery – HPB at University College London Hospital and is currently the Chair of the North London and Mount Vernon Cancer Network HPB and the Director of the University College London Partners Liver and Digestive Health Programme.

Prof Malagó has extensive experience in the field of transplants, having performed the first pancreas transplant at Hamburg University in 1992 and has brought the technique of live donor liver transplantation to a number of hospitals in the USA, Europe and the Middle East.

Prof Malagó currently treats as a Consultant General, HPB and Transplant Surgeon at the Royal Free Hospital, London, and The Princess Grace Hospital, London where he is available for private patients.
