ACL reconstruction
Anterior Cruciate Ligament reconstruction – This treatment involves the rebuilding of the ACL located in the knee. Once the ACL tears, there is no way of reconnecting the torn ends and instead, reconstruction with a ligament graft is required. When the ACL is initially ruptured the knee will swell due to bleeding from the torn ligament. Surgery is usually delayed for 4–6 weeks after the initial injury when the knee has regained full range of motion.
