Treatment of haemorrhoids (piles)
Haemorrhoids are enlarged veins in the lower section of the anal canal. They are a result of an increase in pressure which causes the veins to expand and bulge. The main causes of piles are constipation, pregnancy and chronic coughing. There are two main types of haemorrhoids; internal and external. Symptoms include lumps in or around the anus, anal aches and pains, and bright red blood on toilet paper or in the toilet.
